  Ascentn has put quite an effort into making use of Microsoft provided technology so that its R&D could go to better use. While the company is somewhat new to BPM, the founders have experience creating process-based applications for large companies. Its major differentiators are agility, the management of processes at runtime, and the use of Microsoft technologies, including InfoPath and SharePoint, to keep costs down. Microsoft lovers and costconscious buyers will like this, while others may balk at the lack of a native UI creation environment compared with more expensive alternatives.

Forrester evaluated Ascentn’s current offering and strategy for human-centric BPMS against approximately 150 criteria. Overall, the product delivers a highly agile process

automation environment with a broad feature set, but it lacks native rules management and relies heavily on Microsoft technology. This means that the product is an especially good fit for buyers that want maximum use of Microsoft technology. While all the vendors in this evaluation use and require Microsoft products in some respect, Ascentn focuses on Microsoft technology more than most. This means, overall, a broad feature set at a minimum price.
